WWE Backlash 2016 the next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Backlash show set to take place september 11th, 2016.
WWE Backlash 2016
Date: September 11th, 2016.
Location: Richmond, Virginia in the Richmond, Coliseum.
The 2016 return of this WWE PPV staple features a main event worthy of being for the WWE World Championship: Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles. The “Lunatic Fringe” will try everything in his power to beat back the new “Face That Runs the Place” in a match for SmackDown’s richest prize. Plus, SmackDown’s newly introduced Women’s and Tag Team titles will be up for grabs. Randy Orton will attempt to get a huge comeback win by taking on the “Eater of Worlds,” Bray Wyatt. And The Miz will put up his Intercontinental Championship in a one-on-one encounter with Dolph Ziggler.
So, Here is the official WWE Backlash 2016 match card so far:
1. WWE World Championship
AJ Styles vs Dean Ambrose
He hasn’t even been in WWE for eight months, but it’s time for Styles to win the company’s top title. Styles is clearly the top performer on “SmackDown Live,” he defested cena in summerslam and he might find a way to defeat Ambrose clean. But Dean is also a good wrestler and give a strong performance in backflash.
Prediction: Dean Ambrose
2. SmackDown Women’s Championship Six-Pack Challenge
Alexa Bliss vs Becky Lynch vs Carmella vs Naomi vs Natalya vs Nikki Bella
Having recently returned from a long hiatus because of her neck injury, Nikki Bella should be the favorite to become the first ever SmackDown Women’s Champion. Carmella and Alexa Bliss probably don’t have a real shot to win the title, since neither has ever even had a singles match on a PPV. Naomi and Natalya have been around for a while, but Nikki’s biggest competition comes from Becky Lynch, who was the first woman selected by SmackDown in the draft.
Prediction: Nikki Bella
3. Tag team championship
This is how they’ll introduce tag team titles to the blue brand, with the tournament already underway. Teams remaining, as of this writing: The Usos, American Alpha, Hype Bros, Vaudevillains, Heath Slater & Rhyno, and a mystery team. The Usos went full heel by tearing down American Alpha, they’ve managed to enter themselves into a Second Chance Match against the Hype Bros. The Usos turned heel on Tuesday, likely setting them up to win the belts. A win for Slater would land him a contract with SmackDown, and he should remain a free agent since his storyline is one of the most entertaining in all of WWE at the moment.
Prediction: The Usos
4. Intercontinental championship
The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler
Because Daniel Bryan cannot wrestle, WWE decided to have him get away from The Miz and put Ziggler in his place. The Miz is one of the most interesting characters in WWE at the moment, and there’s no reason to have him lose the belt to Ziggler. Ziggler has become known for losing big matches and making his opponents look good, and that will continue on Sunday. But It is the great opportunity to the Ziggler to win the Intercontinental championship.
Prediction: Dolph Ziggler
5. Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt
It’s become clear that WWE doesn’t believe Wyatt needs many wins to remain one of the top stars on SmackDown. He’s become the wrestler that other superstars beat when they need a win of significance. Wyatt will play that role for Orton, who was just brutalized by Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.
Orton didn’t really put on much of an amazing match against Brock Lesnar and Bray Wyatt’s been an afterthought for the longest time now.
Prediction: Randy Orton
