MS Dhoni : The Untold Story : Movie reviews and Ratings

MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is a biographical film, based on the life of Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni ( MS Dhoni ). Besides penning dialogues, Neeraj Pandey has written the story and screenplay for the movie in collaboration with Dilip Jha. Arun Pandey has jointly produced the film with Fox Star Studios.
As it opened in theatres on Friday morning (30 September), positive reactions for the film have been flowing in from viewers and reviewers.
MS Dhoni: The Untold Story narrates the untold journey of Indian ODI captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni from a lanky school kid in Ranchi, who actually wanted to play football, to the swashbuckling wicketkeeper cum batsman that we know him today. The film begins with Dhoni’s school coach discovering his talents at wicket keeping, his father’s initial reluctance and later acceptance of the fact that his son is better off as a cricketer than as a Government employee and Dhoni’s own struggles to make it to the Indian team, as he works as a TTE at Kharagpur station. The mother who believes in her son, the sister (Bhumika Chawla) who is a solid support to him, his bunch of loyal friends who just know he can do it, has been crafted with heart and feels authentic.
The film moves breezily in the first half from one incident to another, as we get invested in Dhoni’s life and career. Several moments stand out like Dhoni seeing his father wake up in the night to water the ground, his first match with his future rival Yuvraj Singh, and him not coping with his railway duties. And yes Sushant Singh Rajput is terrific.

  MS Dhoni: Untold story Reviews

The Untold Story introduces MS Dhoni as a goal keeper in his school days. He is then seen taking up cricket and turning a district level player in the first half of the movie. The second half deals with his career as a full time cricketer, the ups and downs he sees with his team and his love life. The film is lengthy and drags in parts. Though the narration is slow, the movie is entertaining, say by the audience.
The Untold Story has an interesting and inspiring screenplay that keeps the viewers engaged right from the begin till the end. As Dhoni, Sushant Singh Rajput has delivered brilliant performance, which is the main highlight of the movie. Disha Patani, Kiara Advani, Herry Tangri, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Bhumika Chawla and Rajesh Sharma have done justice to their roles.
